2019 started with a bang as St Andrews Bowling Club received record number of entries for the inaugural William Purves Challenge Trophy. Competition for the various cash prizes was fierce with 64 entries received from teams across the North East as the club and William Purves marked their first year as partners.
Syd Stevenson, branch manager of William Purves says: “I’ve been a member of St Andrews Bowling Club for over 12 years and this year’s indoor competition was the finest yet with tensions kept to the very last. I am delighted to announce the winners of the William Purves Challenge Trophy 2019 were David Jardine, Angus McLean, John Roy and Andy Brown.
President of SABC, Andy Brown adds: “The event was so successful, we’re planning to run it over two Sundays in 2019. And with a busy outdoor season to come, we encourage anyone interested in bowling to pop along to St Andrews Bowling Club to try their hand. Everyone is welcome.”
